T-Mobile G1 spy shot header

Well, it was bound to happen soon enough. Somebody with what is likely a pre-production T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream) has shot a few photos of the device and released them. The irony of the fact that one of HTC’s own smartphones (a Touch Diamond) was used to snap the photos certainly won’t offer the Taiwanese manufacturer any consolation.

In any case, the photos are located below. Note the photo of the G1 next to an HTC X01HT for Softbank of Japan (and, lurking in the shadows to the right, a T-Mobile MDA Compact IV/Touch Diamond). That Softbank device measures up at 58mm x 112.5mm x 21.95mm in size. In fact, I would suggest that based on these photos alone, the G1 looks to be even longer than the 115mm figure that’s been bandied about lately.

While the specs and apps and overall feature set might make this phone a “dream” for some people, I don’t know if this is going to be something most consumers are willing to carry around. But, with that said, its still likely smaller than the brand new version of the T-Mobile Sidekick, and people certainly seem to like those.

In any case, enjoy the photos below.
