How to cancel your ExpressVPN subscription

You can't just use the web for all subscriptions, unfortunately.

March 1, 2023

ExpressVPN is one of the more popular VPNs out there, but for all of its benefits, you can’t necessarily justify a subscription forever. To cancel, you’ll need to use a method specific to how you subscribed in the first place.

QUICK ANSWER

If you subscribed via a computer and/or the web, you can sign into expressvpn.com and turn off automatic renewal under the My subscription menu. If you subscribed via the service's Android or iPhone/iPad apps, you'll have to cancel via the Google Play Store or Settings > Your name > Subscriptions, respectively.

How to cancel your subscription on the ExpressVPN website

Use this method if you subscribed via a computer and/or the web and paid with a credit card or PayPal. Once you’ve cancelled, your subscription will stay valid until the end of your current billing cycle.

  • Sign into your account at expressvpn.com/sign-in.
  • In the left menu, click My subscription, then Edit subscription settings.
  • Go to Automatic Renewal Settings and choose Turn off automatic renewal. Follow prompts to complete cancellation.

Note that if you paid for a subscription with Bitcoin or Paymentwall, you don’t have to worry about cancellation at all — those options don’t support auto-renewal.
