How to compare two different Word documents
Document comparison is a good way to track changes and updates. It’s also useful in other situations where you don’t want a document to be too similar to something someone else has written. Let’s review how to compare two Word documents.

How to compare two Word documents
There are many situations where the Compare feature will come in handy. The most prominent situation is when you have an original version of a document and a revised one. Perhaps you saved the old version to keep it untouched while you worked on the new version. In this case, using the compare feature will help you track grammatical and stylistic changes.
Open one of the Word documents you wish to compare. Go to the Review tab at the top.

In the Compare section, click the Compare button.

Within the Compare dropdown, click Compare….

Under Original document, choose one of the documents you wish to compare. In Revised document, choose the other document you wish to compare. When ready, click OK.

All documents selected will appear side-by-side. Revisions will appear in a tab on the left.
