1. Tales from the Loop (April 3)

Not every science fiction series has to be a grand space epic. Tales from the Loop is an understated but imaginative show, inspired by the futuristic art of Simon Stålenhag. Set in a small town, the series follows the daily lives of the people who live above the Loop a machine which seemingly bends reality and makes the impossible possible.

But Tales from the Loop also promises to dive deeper into humanity’s turbulent and dependent relationship with technology. Combined with the talented cast, which features Jonathan Pryce and Rebecca Hall, the series has unlimited potential. So, if you have been craving subtle sci-fi, be sure to check out Tales from the Loop when it arrives on Amazon Prime Video this April 3.

2. The Lighthouse (April 16)

From the director of the critical darling The Witch, comes The Lighthouse. In the time of self-isolation and quarantines around the globe, this psychological thriller is more relevant and disturbing than ever. We follow Ephraim Winslow and Thomas Wake a contract wickie and an experienced lighthouse keeper, played by Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. The two men must share the cramped space of lighthouse for four weeks, while Wake supervises the newbie Winslow.

But things quickly go awry the film takes a dive from gritty realism and descends into delirious horror. The men are plagued by strange visions and we soon realize that neither is a terribly reliable narrator. Pattinson and Dafoe deliver powerhouse performances, which are further enhanced by the expressionist-inspired visuals. If you think you can stomach this unconventional horror, be sure to check it out when it arrives on Amazon Prime Video on April 16.
