It wasn’t long ago that 8GB of RAM was considered massive for phones. It was even considered a lot for computers. Now, smartphones offer 12GB, 16GB, and even as much as 18GB of RAM. While the latter is arguably an overkill, more RAM is never a bad thing, especially if you plan to keep your handset for several years. More RAM doesn’t necessarily mean your phone is future-proof, but it certainly helps.

If you’re in the market for a phone with 8GB RAM, you’ll be happy to hear there are quite a few of them to choose from — check out the best ones below.

The best phones with 8GB of RAM:

Editor’s note: We will regularly update this list of the best phones with 8GB of RAM as new devices launch.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S22 family arrived at the February Unpacked event, bringing three distinct models. However, only two of them can be had with 8GB of RAM, as the base Ultra model features 12G of memory.

The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus both sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset onboard in the US and select markets. Other markets get the Exynos 2200 to keep the lights on, and 45W charging is back on the menu. Well, it’s available for the Galaxy S22 Plus and S22 Ultra — the base Galaxy S22 tops out at 25W. Samsung also made the curious decision to shrink its batteries this year. The Galaxy S22 offers a 3,700mAh cell, down from 4,000mAh, and the Galaxy S22 Plus dropped from 4,800mAh to 4,500mAh.

Other specs and features include a triple-camera setup at the back, an IP68 rating, and Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4 on top.

Samsung Galaxy S22 specs:

  • Display: 6.1-inch, FHD+
  • SoC: SD 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128GB or 256GB

2. Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Samsung’s affordable 5G smartphones pack more punch than ever, especially with the launch of the Galaxy A53. It may not look too different from its predecessor, the A52 5G, but there’s not much more you could ask for in a $450 phone.

The A53 features a Super AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Then there’s the camera setup, headlined by an impressive 64MP shooter. You also get dual-SIM capabilities, with the second slot doubling as a microSD card slot, but the headphone jack is no more. The 5,000mAh battery also comfortably lasts through an entire day and beyond. Once you drain the battery, you can tap into 25W fast charging to get back on the go.

The Galaxy A53 is available with 6GB of RAM in the US for now, and we hope that the 8GB version will join it soon. There’s no word on when that may happen, though. However, the international model comes with 8GB of RAM and is also available on Amazon — but costs a bit more.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G specs:

  • Display: 6.5-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Exynos 1280
  • RAM: 4/6/8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 64, 12, 5, and 5MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 5,000mAh
  • Software: Android 12

3. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

Samsung’s other premium foldable takes on the clamshell market in the form of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. While the Fold 4 might take a lot of the headlines, this is the one to buy if you’re ready to test out a relatively affordable foldable phone. It’s also the only recent Samsung foldable you can get with 8GB of RAM.

The Flip 4 offers excellent build quality, with a premium exterior finish and a 6.7-inch internal display. The external display comes in at 1.9-inches to make managing your notifications that much easier. On the inside, you’ll find a powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor leading the charge, with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage backing it up.

More: The best Samsung phones

There are two 12MP rear cameras and a 10MP front-facing camera. The handset also comes with a 3,700mAh battery and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the most affordable folding option from Samsung, so it just might be the springboard that the company needs to reach the masses.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 specs:

  • Display: 6.7-inch and 1.9-inch
  • SoC: Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128/256/512GB
  • Cameras: 12 and 12MP
  • Front camera: 10MP
  • Battery: 3,700mAh
  • Software: Android 12

This is the best phone from Sony you can currently get. The Xperia 1 IV was announced in May and offers high-end specs as well as loads of bells and whistles power users will enjoy. This includes 8GB of RAM that’s paired with either 128 or 256GB of space.

You get a large 4K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the fastest chipset currently available, a headphone jack, and even a microSD card slot. The battery comes in at 5,000mAh and supports 30W charging, getting it up to 50% in 30 minutes, according to Sony. It’s a great phone for creators, offering super camera autofocus, stellar video capture, and a few unique content creator apps. The speakers are great as well.

Sony’s flagship also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, and a 21:9 aspect ratio that makes it quite tall and slim. The biggest drawback of the device is its price, which comes in at $1,600.

Sony Xperia 1 IV specs:

  • Display: 6.5-inch, 4K
  • SoC: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • RAM: 12GB
  • Storage: 256/512GB
  • Cameras: 12, 12, and 12MP + 0.3MP ToF
  • Front camera: 12MP
  • Battery: 5,000mAh
  • Software: Android 12

5. OnePlus 10 Pro

The OnePlus 10 Pro is definitely one of the best phones with 8GB of RAM, although it also comes with 12GB for those who want more. It’s one of the first phones launched in collaboration with Oppo, something you can tell by looking at the new design, which suits it well.

The OnePlus 10 has plenty of power under the hood thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The screen is large at 6.7 inches, and it looks incredible thanks to the AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also comes with OnePlus’ signature alert slider at the side and a triple-camera system at the back.

Pricing isn’t low, but this device competes very well in its market segment. You also get an IP68 rating, a large 5,000mAh battery, and 80W fast charging (65W in the USA).

OnePlus 10 Pro specs:

  • Display: 6.7-inch, QHD+
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • RAM: 8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256/512GB
  • Cameras: 48, 50, and 8MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 5,000mAh
  • Software: Android 12

Just like its predecessor, Google’s latest Pixel 7 comes with either 128 or 256GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM.

The 2022 flagship is a small upgrade over its predecessor but still remains one of the best value phones on the market. It offers a great camera system, a clean software experience, plenty of power, and a design that turns heads. The bigger Pixel 7 Pro is a better phone overall, but it comes with more RAM we aren’t including it on this list.

The Pixel 7 is not perfect. The charging is its biggest weakness, as it’s quite slow compared to the competition. It also only sports two rear cameras, making the photography experience less versatile than what you get with phones like the Pixel 7 Pro.

Google Pixel 7 specs:

  • Display: 6.3-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Google Tensor G2
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 50 and 12MP
  • Front camera: 10.8MP
  • Battery: 4,355mAh
  • Software: Android 13

7. Motorola Edge Plus (2022)

The Motorola Edge Plus (2022) sports a vivid screen that comes in at 6.7 inches, features great speakers, and has all the performance you need due to being powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. It also comes with three rear cameras, has an IP52 rating, and supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G. You can get the phone with 128GB or 512GB of storage. with both models sporting 8GB of RAM.

A stand-out feature of the phone is its battery life, which should be good for well over a day of use. The cell has a capacity of 4,800mAh and supports 30W charging that gets it to full in about an hour.

This phone is far from perfect, though. Although the battery life is great, the build quality is nothing to write home about. The cameras are also average at best, and the update policy is questionable.

Motorola Edge Plus (2022) specs:

  • Display: 6.7-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • RAM: 8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256/512GB
  • Cameras: 50, 50, and 2MP
  • Front camera: 60MP
  • Battery: 4,800mAh
  • Software: Android 12

Poco F4 GT

Like the idea of a powerful gaming phone but don’t want to spend a ton of cash? Well, that’s where the Poco F4 GT comes in, starting at €599.90. That makes it cheaper than other gaming-focused phones on the list. It comes with as much as 12GB of RAM, although a version with 8GB is also available.

Verdict: Poco F4 GT review — One for the mobile gamers

Aside from the flagship silicon here, Poco’s phone also offers a pair of retractable shoulder buttons for use in games. Toss in a 4,700mAh battery with 120W charging, quad speakers, and a 120Hz OLED panel and you’ve got a great device for mobile gaming.

There are two downsides to the Poco F4 GT though, namely the lack of US availability and the disappointing secondary cameras. But it’s definitely one of the best phones with 8GB of RAM on the list if power and pricing are your main concerns.

Poco F4 GT specs

  • Display: 6.67-inch, FHD+
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • RAM: 8GB/12GB
  • Storage: 128GB/256GB
  • Cameras: 2, 8, 64MP
  • Front camera: 20MP
  • Battery: 4,700mAh
  • Software: Android 12

There you have it. These are our picks for the best phones with 8GB RAM, although there are quite a few others out there to choose from. We’ll add new devices as they launch, so check back often.
