Published onDecember 29, 2023

ChatGPT is all the craze these days, with people using it to write resumes, write code, and even play chess. The beauty of the service lies in getting AI to do the job using creative prompts so that you get precise results. However, typing long and descriptive prompts can get tiresome, and revising them to perfection takes even more time. But there’s a way to speed things up, and that is by using voice. Here’s how you can control ChatGPT with your voice, using speech to type and get your answers spoken back.

The best way to use voice with ChatGPT is by using the official Android or iOS app. You can use the voice transcription feature to enter prompts with your voice.

You can also use your platform's speech-to-text features to speak directly into the text field of ChatGPT. Alternatively, third-party extensions let you interact and control ChatGPT directly with your voice for a conversational experience.

Can you control ChatGPT with your voice?

OpenAI has added a voice transcription feature to ChatGPT’s official Android and iOS app. This is the easiest and most straightforward way to control ChatGPT with your voice. So yes, you can control ChatGPT with your voice.

You need to click on the voice feature in the prompt window. Then, speak out your command, and stop recording when done. ChatGPT’s app will transcribe your voice into text, and you can then send the text forward as a prompt to ChatGPT.

To get voice replies, you will need to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus. You can then have ChatGPT’s Android and iOS app reply back to your prompts with voice.
