With Netflix’s cancelation of its Marvel TV shows, Hulu is set to become a much bigger source for original Marvel movies and TV content. While Disney Plus will also have its own original Marvel TV shows starting in 2020, Disney effectively controls the content of Hulu as well.
Let’s take a look at all of the Marvel movies and TV shows currently on Hulu, along with all the upcoming Marvel Hulu-exclusive shows launching in the next year or so. You can sign up for Hulu at the link below, with a 30-day free trial for new members.
Marvel Hulu movies and TV shows:
Editor’s note: We will be updating this post as new Hulu Marvel shows and movies debut, and others leave the service.
1. Deadpool 1/2
Ryan Reynolds became a massive movie star after the original Deadpool. Based on the Marvel mutant “Merc with a Mouth” the 2016 R-rated movie adaptation was nearly perfect. It combines humor, drama, pathos, and four wall-breaking action as we learn Wade Wilson’s origin story, along with some pretty nasty villains.
The 2018 sequel, Deadpool 2, is almost as good. Josh Brolin is equally perfect as Cable, a time-traveling cyborg out to avenge the death of his family. The problem is that the person he wants to kill is just a messed-up teenager in our time and Deadpool wants to show Cable that people can change. The action content is even higher at this stage, and we even get some unexpected cameos from familiar faces.
You can also watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Hulu if you really want to. It also has Ryan Reynolds as a version of Deadpool, but it’s just not a very good movie.
This Marvel Hulu original series is based on the acclaimed comic of the same name which combines superhero action, with adolescent angst. Six teenagers learn they each have superpowers, but this is not a cause for celebration, as they also learn their parents are part of a secret supervillain group called The Pride.
As you might expect, these kids decide to fight their parents rather than join them, all while trying to figure out the normal teenage issues of love, acceptance, and more. You can watch all three seasons of Runaways on Hulu now.
3. Cloak and Dagger
Here’s another teen-based Marvel Hulu show. This series shows its episodes first on the Freeform cable network before they go to Hulu. It features two kids who get special powers after an accident at the Roxxon corporation. After the incident, Cloak can envelop people in darkness and transport them to another dimension, and Dagger can create very bright white shards of light that serve as daggers. You can watch both seasons in full on Hulu.
4. The Gifted
The two seasons of the recently canceled Fox TV series are still on Hulu. Marvels’ X-Men franchise is the basis for The Gifted, set in a world where people mistrust mutants. The famed X-Men superhero team has disappeared before this series begins and the mutant population is severely controlled. A family with two mutant children goes on the run and links up with an underground resistance group that is trying to protect and help mutants. While no future seasons are planned, The Gifted is still an excellent series, especially if you’re an X-Men fan.
Another Marvel Hulu series based on the X-Men franchise, Legion was first broadcasted on FX and features David Haller — a mutant with massive telepathic and telekinetic abilities. After being taken by a government agency, Haller is rescued by a mutant support group called Summerland. That’s the simple synopsis; the full truth of Legion is full of wacky and weird events that make it unlike any show on TV.
You can watch all three seasons of Legion right now on Hulu.
Marvel’s first real horror-themed series stars Daimon and Ana Helstrom, who are the children of a “powerful” serial killer. They use their abilities to go after evil, no matter what form it may take. You can watch the first 10 episode season right now on Hulu. At the moment, there’s no word on when or if a second season is going to be available.
Upcoming – M.O.D.O.K (May 21)
This stop-motion animation sitcom will focus on the Marvel supervillain with a really, really big head. Actor and comedian Patton Oswald will be one of the two showrunners for this series and voices the title character. Fun fact: that character’s name stands for Mental Organism Design Only for Killing.
That’s a look at the Marvel Hulu shows you can watch now and the ones popping up on the streaming service in the future! We’ll update this list as Hulu updates its library of Marvel movies and TV shows.
