I don’t know about you, but I am probably one of the world’s most obsessive Twitter users, as I pretty much can’t go for more than a couple of hours without checking out new followers and trends or tweeting about God knows what. Of course, I can’t only use Twitter at home, on my computer, which is why for several months now I have been using the official Android app. Twitter for Android has always felt satisfying, but not great. So you can imagine how happy I am to report that an important update for the app has just been pushed …
If you’ve ever been caught in a dilemma, you’ll know that calling up a friend or a relative is the best way to resolve it. Instead of standing there, waffling over an item to purchase or an item to wear, it’s so much easier to ask someone for her or his opinion. But, if the person isn’t with you, how can he or she properly analyze your dilemma? You could send the person a picture of the item, but what if you wanted more than one friend’s opinion? For situations like that, there’s Ovoto. Ovoto, developed by HayStaks, was first …

Twitter recently released an updated version of its app for Android this July. The newest addition to its features are push notifications and multiple accounts support. The inclusion of push notifications in this update might be an improvement or a mere redundancy for Android users. It can be a good sign as it levels the field for both Android and iPhone, with the latter already enjoying the feature since last fall. It might also be a little redundant for some, as Android also allows users to be updated of their Twitter whereabouts through the notification bar. This feature however will …
Building an Android application first, then creating a counterpart for iOS is said to be more difficult than normal, but the people behind Lightbox Photos for Android is doing exactly this. Unlike photo-sharing newcomers Instagram and Path which are both run only in iOS, Lightbox takes the Android-first stance. “Android is going to take the market position of where Nokia is today,” said Lightbox CEO Thai Tran. “Android phones will, within two years, be just as cheap as the non-smartphones you buy today.” Tran further explains that Android users are offered with inferior applications compared to counterparts offered to iPhone …
Rather than make a whole bunch of short posts, I thought I would collate them all into one manageable item. I think I sound like a debt repayment shark. Anyway, Twitter, Facebook, Zynga and StumbleUpon have all made waves today or very recently with their announcements for updates or products for Android. Twitter have released an update for android which includes changed to the layout of the timeline and introduced a Tweet details page. The app is faster and more ‘polished’ and is well worth upgrading to if you haven’t already. In a recent press event in Palo Alto, Mark …
In an email sent out to its existing users, SocialScope, a social networking aggregation system, hints that the company will soon offer its app to both Android and iPhone users. Currently SocialScope is available in beta form for RIM BlackBerry users. SocialScope currently integrates Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and FourSquare into its BlackBerry client.
TweetDeck, a popular social networking client, is expected to be available today, in beta form, for Android users. Currently TweetDeck has been only available to Apple iPhone and iPad mobile users. The beta version for Android was announced via Twitter from TweetDeck’s developer and should be available shortly. The universal app melds Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Linkedin, Foursquare, and Google Buzz under one umbrella for keeping up with social networks easily.
Twitter just released its Twitter for Android application, and I’ve tested it out a bit and shot some photos and video of it in action. Right now it appears to require an Android 2.1 device to work, which is a shame, but for those with more recent Android handsets, this is a slick looking app that they are going to want to check out. The photo gallery is available after the jump.
Yesterday was an interesting day for Twitter. It marked the first ever developers conference for the micro-blog giant, called Chirp. If you are interested, the events continue throughout today too. The main take-home message from yesterday is that Twitter are going to offer an official Android application. Right now it is not clear as to whether this application will be brand new or whether it will be an existing piece of software, relaunched and re-branded. After all, Twitter have already purchased an existing app called Tweetie. This is now the official Twitter application for the iPhone, and is free. Twitter …
New pictures of the HTC Incredible have found their way onto Twitter thanks to Devdroidian. For those that have yet to hear about this device, the HTC Incredible is rumored to offer a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive AMOLED display, along with the fabled 1 GHz Snapdragon platform. To keep things ticking along just nicely, the device also packs 512 MB ROM, 256 MB RAM. Of course, with high specifications like these, the camera does not let us down and weighs in at a respectable 5-megapixels along with dual-LED flash. Top this all off with Android 2.1 and you can see why …
We told you on Saturday that the rumors about the Google phone would come fast and furious and this weekend did not disappoint. To recap, we started off Friday night with the rumor that the Google phone was real and in the hands of Google employees. This revelation was partially substantiated by Google in a blog post on Saturday that explained that the California-based company was indeed dogfooding a new Android phone. The identity of the phone as the Google phone or merely a Google Experience phone was still shrouded in mystery and the subject of heated debate. The debate …
Spotted at Twitter is supposedly the first image of the now infamous Google phone. This handset is a mirror of the HTC Passion image that was leaked back in October. The only thing missing is the HTC logo on the top bezel, an omission that is consistent with this being a Google-branded phone. Take this one with a pinch of salt as the purported picture taker Corey O’Brien has no apparent ties to Google. Nonetheless, the faucet has been turned on and we expect to see more images and additional information soon. The leaked images of both the Passion and the Google phone are …
