Survey shows most readers stand by Android, but a good number are iOS-curious

Switching from an iPhone to an Android or vice versa is not the headache it once was. That goes for both the learning curves, or lack thereof, between the platforms, and the tools that now exist that easily port over all of your information. But that doesn’t mean that old rivalries aren’t still at play. Recently, Android Authority’s Harish Jonnalagadda spent three weeks with the iPhone 18 Pro Max and came away with a fairly positive opinion. We put a poll for you, our readers, in the story asking if you would consider switching to iOS at some point, and the reaction was strong.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the majority of people who are on an Android-focused site want only Android devices in their pockets. Out of the 1,265 respondents, 52.8% declared themselves “Android for life.”

Loyalist Alistair Parsons said that not only does he prefer Android, but it’s possible he’s winning others over as well:
Been using android for 16 years, and support many dozens of clients that have iPhone, the sheer frustration I get at even basic tasks when trying to use an iPhone is incalculable…. Even had a client be utterly amazed last week at my androids….. Live wallpaper.
Some people are so against even the idea of anything Apple that they don’t even want to see words associated with it, like Kawshik Ahmed who said:
How can I block categories in this site? I wanna block iOS, iPhone, iPad, Apple related articles.
Despite that, there are a good amount who are leaving themselves open to persuasion, with 29.2% saying they’d consider moving to iOS.
Roderick Torres thinks that Apple has made some recent changes that are appealing, while Pixel performance lately is less so:
Used Android from 2010 to 2015 then jumped on iPhone until 2021, felt that Apple was lagging. Plus the pixel 6 came out with such a good price. Looks like some is finally catching up again with their new CEO. Might be worth jumping ship again for another 5 years. Pixel is great but the lack of consistency….
Pixel user Matthew Hutter replied to Torres, saying that even though he recently returned to Android with the Pixel 10 Pro XL, it ultimately might be the thing that makes him return to iOS:
This was my experience as well. I loved the older pixels, they felt so innovative and fresh compared to iOS who felt generations behind. I eventually came back to iOS 2 years ago and was actually pleasantly surprised how everything was. I bought a pixel 10xl this year, since it was such a great deal, but its been a far cry since the pixel 6 days and i think I’m going back to iOS.
Of course, there is a way to split the difference by carrying both an iOS and Android device, and that’s what 17.9% of you do.
Back in April, we asked what you would miss most about Android if you did leave it all behind to get an iPhone. Most of you, at 49.9%, said that it was Android’s famed customization that would be the hardest thing to part with. After that came multitasking features (19.5%), notification controls (15.5%), and Android-only apps (15.1%).
