Galaxy Buds On leaked renders show Samsung's foray into a new earbud category

Samsung is gearing up to jump into the clip-on open-ear earbuds market, and we now have our clearest look yet at the upcoming hardware. Codenamed “Able,” the earbuds have surfaced in several recent leaks, with evidence suggesting Samsung may settle on the Galaxy Buds On branding. Now, a new report comes bearing actual renders of the earbuds, along with an array of software features heading our way.

SammyGuru spotted several renders for the Galaxy Buds On within an internal build of the Buds Manager app. In these renders, the Galaxy Buds On feature a clip-on cuff design reminiscent of the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds and HUAWEI FreeClip.

The earbuds consist of two rounded bulbs connected by an arched bridge, likely silicone-coated. The larger rounded bulb appears to house the audio driver and sits inside the ear, while the flatter outer end clips onto the exterior of the ear and features a concave touch sensor. The leaked renders show the earbuds in black, though code within the app also hints at an upcoming white colorway.

Tutorial graphics in the app highlight several practical features tailored for this open-ear form factor. The Buds On will seemingly borrow the head nod and shake gestures originally introduced on the flagship Buds line to accept or reject incoming calls. Because open-ear designs naturally let in environmental noise, Samsung may add an “Auto Volume” feature that dynamically adjusts listening levels based on ambient noise, as well as a “Volume Boost” toggle to override the standard volume limits.

On the smart features side, users may be able to trigger voice assistants (Gemini or Bixby) via voice or touch, and a quick-action shortcut lets them start a voice memo directly from the earbud. Transcriptions of these memos can later be searched via Bixby on devices running One UI 8.5 or newer. The app also mentions a feature that pauses active playback when your connected device detects that you have fallen asleep, though that capability appears to be tied to One UI 9.0.

Notably, the Galaxy Buds On omit active noise cancelation (ANC) as well as 360 Audio with head tracking, which come off as sensible trade-offs given the open design. With regulatory filings already surfacing across markets, Samsung is widely expected to launch its first clip-on earbuds in Q4 2026.
