Massive Samsung Android XR glasses leak shows off all variants and specs

Samsung’s smart glasses with Android XR have been on the horizon for several months now. On multiple occasions, both Google and Samsung have taken opportunities to tease these smart glasses being made in partnership with eyewear brands, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. We also got to see a few of these in real life at the Samsung Unpacked event in July. With the launch finally expected to launch in November, we’re seeing more details emerge, and the latest batch comes through unofficial sources.

A recent leak from SammyGuru takes a closer look at the various styles and color options for the Galaxy smart glasses. The leak reveals three designs from Warby Parker, available in wayfarer, rounded, and cat-eye shapes. All of these frames come in various colors, such as dark green, pine, black, brown, and even support tinted lenses. Since none of these glasses have displays in them, users should be free to mix and match different color options — based on the available ones.

As per the leak, there are a total of 10 combinations for the lens tints and frame colors.

Gentle Monster has a few more design choices: a blockier square frame, an oval one, and a slimmer oval option, the last of which has appeared in marketing teasers since Google I/O. Unlike other options, Gentle Monster’s catalog also has light-colored options such as light-gray, cream, and a pale lilac for people who prefer that. Like the ones above, these frames also come in a host of options for the lens colors.

From previous leaks, we had already learned the basic details about these glasses. Information such as their audio-only nature, Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, and 12MP cameras was leaked back in July. The latest leak adds to that information, revealing these glasses feature 2GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The leak also suggests the 12MP camera on each pair will be capable of shooting 3K videos at 30fps — same as the Meta Ray-Ban Glasses.

The battery on these glasses could support a claim of a 9-hour backup, while the charging case would add another 72 hours. Along with the two speakers on each of the temples, the frames also feature four microphones, which would be utilized for engaging with Gemini.

Finally, the leak suggests that the glasses would weigh only 41 grams, but does not specify which frame is being referred to. If true, it would certainly be a talking point for Samsung, since Meta’s smart glasses weigh around 50 grams. It wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung and Google took so long before launching these glasses just to shave a few more grams and seize bragging rights.

Samsung is reportedly also planning to integrate these glasses within the ecosystem and could allow Galaxy Watch owners to use their watches and glasses together. However, they would require a Samsung flagship working as a bridge between these devices.
