The best OnePlus 10T alternatives: 7 phones to consider before you buy
The OnePlus 10T is a rather curious release, as it wasn’t preceded by a standard OnePlus 10 earlier this year alongside the OnePlus 10 Pro. Nevertheless, the new phone brings a powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, a solid main camera, crazy fast charging, and a decent $649 price tag.
Like the idea of the OnePlus 10T but want to know what else is out there? Or maybe you don’t care for the brand but want a similar proposition? That’s where we come in, as we look at the best OnePlus 10T alternatives.
The best OnePlus 10T alternatives
1. OnePlus 10 Pro
The OnePlus 10 Pro is perhaps the most prominent OnePlus 10T alternative on the list, representing the best that the company has to offer in 2022. That means Hasselblad camera branding/tuning, an alert slider, and a lengthy update pledge.
OnePlus’s Pro model also serves up other premium features, such as a QHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, wireless charging, a telephoto camera, and an IP68 rating for carrier variants. And all of these features are missing from the OnePlus 10T. The addition of a 5,000mAh battery and 80W wired charging also contributes to this being a solid flagship in 2022.
The OnePlus 10T does have a couple of advantages such as a slightly faster, more efficient processor and faster wired charging (150W). Although the latter is arguably a case of diminishing returns, really.
2. Google Pixel 6
Like the idea of an affordable flagship phone but value a slick camera and software experience? Then the standard Pixel 6 is definitely one of the best OnePlus 10T alternatives out there. The Pixel device brings a great dual rear system (50MP + 12MP), some innovative camera modes, Google’s own take on Android, and a longer, five-year security update commitment.
Google’s phone also comes with the AI-focused Tensor processor, enabling features like offline voice typing and some of those aforementioned camera features. Toss in a 4,614mAh battery, IP68 rating, and wireless charging, and you’ve got a well-rounded offering.
It’s not all great though, as the OnePlus 10T absolutely smokes the Pixel 6 series when it comes to wired charging speeds. In fact, the Pixel 6 line is surpassed by pretty much every major Android player in this regard. Still, this device takes the fight to OnePlus in a massive way, while also being $50 cheaper in the US.
3. iPhone 13
Apple’s iPhone 13 costs a few hundred dollars more than the OnePlus 10T, but it’s a solid alternative if you don’t mind joining the Apple camp. You do miss out on fast wired charging and a high refresh rate screen, but there are still a few reasons to like the Apple device.
Aside from iOS and Apple’s services, you also get a blazing-fast processor, IP68 rating, wireless charging support, and a great dual rear camera system. Apple’s handset also brings over five years of updates, ensuring that you’ll get the latest software features.
4. Samsung Galaxy S22
The Galaxy S22 definitely makes a case for being a more well-rounded flagship-level phone than the OnePlus 10T. IP68 rating? Check. Wireless charging? Yep. High-quality and versatile camera system? Indeed.
Samsung’s phone also brings the feature-filled One UI skin and the best update pledge in the business. You’re getting four years of OS updates and five years of security patches. The OnePlus 10T can’t beat the S22 on either count.
The Galaxy S22 isn’t perfect though, as its compact size comes at the expense of battery capacity (just 3,700mAh). Wired charging times aren’t great either. So those who prioritize class-leading battery life and charging times should probably stick to the OnePlus phone.
5. ASUS Zenfone 9
The OnePlus 10T is a pretty sizeable phone, but those on the hunt for a more compact flagship experience can’t go wrong with the Zenfone 9. The latest ASUS handset delivers a pocket-friendly 5.9-inch 120Hz OLED screen as well as the same Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset as the OnePlus phone.
There’s more to the Zenfone 9 than just a small size and powerful SoC though. We’ve also got solid battery life thanks to a 4,300mAh battery, great video stabilization due to the gimbal tech, an IP68 rating, and a headphone jack.
It all sounds like a great package, but the lack of wireless charging, fast wired charging, and the ho-hum update pledge are all disappointing for the $699 price tag. Still, it’s one of the best OnePlus 10T alternatives if you’re looking for a change from the usual players.
6. OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro
Are you a OnePlus fan but looking for a similarly priced alternative to the OnePlus 10T? That’s where 2021’s OnePlus 9 series comes in. The vanilla OnePlus 9 is still a great purchase today, especially with deals below $500 to be had.
Unlike the newer phone, the OnePlus 9 still has Hasselblad camera tuning, a high-quality ultrawide rear camera, and wireless charging (with the exception of the Indian variant). It even has an alert slider, which is missing from the new device.
The OnePlus 9 Pro is another decent alternative if you don’t mind spending a little extra over the vanilla OnePlus 9. It ups the ante with wireless charging, a QHD+ LTPO screen, a telephoto camera, and an IP68 rating for carrier versions.
