Update (11/30): HMD Global has announced that the Nokia 2 is now on sale in the US, and sure enough, you can now pick up the cheap and cheerful phone from Amazon or Best Buy. The budget device costs just $99 from either retailer and comes unlocked. Hit the buttons below to grab a bargain

At the time of writing, the Amazon listing is still showing as unavailable, but this hopefully shouldn't be the case for too long.

Nokia’s resurgence in 2017 has been a fun thing to watch. It has put out several phones this year that are truly compelling. From the Nokia 8 to the super budget Nokia 2, it seems to have (almost) every base covered. The throwback Nokia 3310 3G even has the feature phone market covered if you’re into that sort of thing.

But, it’s been hard to get your hands on the devices if you’re in the United States. We got word that the Nokia 8 isn’t coming to the US and it looks like the Nokia 6 and Nokia 3310 3G are the only phones you can buy in the states with a warranty. Luckily, that’s about to change with the impending release of the Nokia 2.

As of right now, you can head over to the Amazon listing for the Nokia 2 (link below) and check out all the details. It’s not on sale quite yet, but it’s coming soon. The phone comes unlocked for use on GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, but will not work on Sprint or Verizon. It has a low-powered Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, 5-inch 720p display, and a massive 4,100 mAh battery. It comes with Android 7.1.2 out of the box, and much like all other Nokia devices, there’s promised upgrades for Android Oreo and Android P

The rest of the specs include an 8 MP main camera, 5 MP front-facing camera, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of storage. Luckily, you can expand the storage with a microSD card, but you’re stuck with the paltry 1 GB of RAM. There’s support for dual SIM cards, LTE, and the phone comes in three colors: Black, Copper, and White.

The Nokia 2 is a compelling option as a first smartphone for a child or older parent or grandparent. As we stated in our first impressions post, the Nokia 2 is more than the sum of its parts. If you only look at specs, you might disregard the device out of hand, but for only $99, this thing looks like a steal.
