It’s a good time to be looking for a cell phone carrier. Not only are unlimited plans now the norm, but carriers are throwing perks at you to convince you to join. T-Mobile has been on the warpath for years now with plans like Carrier Freedom and #getoutofthered. AT&T recently joined the fray by offering up free HBO to its customers. That, in turn, made T-Mobile offer free Netflix and Sprint offer up free Hulu.

Now it looks like more carriers are getting in on the act. T-Mobile’s MVNO MetroPCS is offering a free year of Amazon Prime and a free smartphone when you switch over and port your number.

If we’re looking at pure value, this might be the best promotion on the market right now. The year of Amazon Prime normally costs $99 and entitles you to ad-free streaming music, movies and television shows via Amazon Prime Video, free ebooks, photo storage, and free two-day shipping. And those are just some of the benefits.

The free smartphone being offered up is the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime. It a pretty standard Samsung budget device and will normally run you about $200. It has a 5.5-inch 720p display, an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, and 2 GB of RAM. There’s 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports up to 256 GB cards. The main camera is an 8 MP f/1.9 shooter, while the front-facing camera comes in at 5 MP.

If you’re looking for a reason to switch, MetroPCS is making a strong case. Not only do you get $300 worth of free gifts, but it’s a pretty decent service too. It runs on T-Mobile towers and offers 4 lines of unlimited data for just $100. There are some drawbacks like slower speeds compared to T-Mobile users, streaming video at only 480p, and no tethering. But, if that doesn’t bother you, this is a pretty easy way to save some dough and get some free stuff in the process.
