Add Android Authority on Google:
TL;DR
  • Google is making it easier for users to discover new apps and games in the Play Store.
  • Users can now compare apps with Ask Play.
  • Gemini conversations about apps will soon start displaying rich Play Store links to directly install relevant apps.

Google has been working to make it easier for users to find the apps and games they love. To that end, the company made several new announcements today, including the Game Finder feature and new ways to discover apps and games both inside and outside the Play Store.

For starters, Ask Play is getting a useful upgrade. While you can already use Ask Play to find apps with natural language queries, Google is now making it even easier to navigate the results. Starting today, users will see a new compare option in Ask Play results. It will evaluate the apps suggested by Ask Play and offer helpful insights such as each app’s monetization mode, connectivity, and more.

Google is also making it easier for users to discover new apps and games outside of the Play Store. With “Play in Gemini,” users can get app suggestions directly in their Gemini conversations. Gemini will soon provide direct install links from the Play Store inside chats and will even support deep linking to content within apps.

Google hasn’t specified a release date for “Play in Gemini.” However, the company said it will roll out to all Gemini users soon, so hopefully we’ll see it in action sooner rather than later.

Additionally, Google is expanding its Sports Topic Pages to include soccer leagues like Major League Soccer (MLS), the Premier League, the Champions League, La Liga, and Liga MX. Soccer content will start showing up in Sports Topic Pages starting tomorrow, October 14.

Finally, Google is working to make discovering apps easier and more seamless across different device form factors. The Play Store will now dynamically adjust its layout to properly fit car screens. It can also switch into a 3D space on Android XR devices and display large-screen apps front and center on Googlebooks. No matter which device type you’re accessing it with, that sounds like a nicer-to-use Play Store, all around.
