Google Play Store is making game discovery less of a hit-or-miss experience
Oct 13, 2026 — 1:00 PM ET

- Google has announced the rollout of Game Finder in the Play Store.
- Game Finder surfaces games that match your taste based on your Gamer DNA — an analysis of your gameplay, ratings, and interests.
- You’ll soon be able to curate collections of games called Game Playlists.
Whether you’re an avid gamer or a casual player, finding your next game can be difficult. With so many titles out there, no one wants to waste their time on an RPG, platformer, shoot’em up, and so on, they have no interest in. Having to sort through the thousands of games on the Play Store doesn’t exactly make the job any easier. We recently discovered that Google was working on a solution to this problem, and now that solution is here.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the solution in question is called Game Finder. Google has announced that Game Finder is rolling out today in the Play Store. It will only be available in English for users in the US, initially. However, Google says that an expansion to additional markets will happen soon.
Game Finder does exactly as the name suggests: it helps you find games that match your taste. It bases its recommendations on what Google calls Gamer DNA, which is an analysis of your gameplay, ratings, and interests. You’ll be able to fine-tune your Gamer DNA by specifying what genres, mechanics, and more you’re interested in.
Google also plans to use Gamer DNA to show you how players with similar interests are engaging with a title. On top of that, you’ll see how many people you follow are playing that game, you can check out user review summaries, and you’ll learn why certain games are trending.

Along with the rollout of Game Finder and Gamer DNA, Google is introducing Game Playlists. This is actually another feature we spotted in development recently. A Game Playlist is a curated collection of games you’ve picked out.
You’ll be able to build your own collections and organize them into different categories. Google also plans to add a social aspect to this feature in the form of sharing and exploring. While you won’t be able to share your playlists today, support for sharing and exploring others’ playlists is coming soon.
