This week, Google is rolling out an updated version of Call Screen to all older Pixel devices. After the update, your Pixel, Pixel 2, Pixel 3, or Pixel 3a will automatically screen unknown callers and block robocalls before your handset even rings.

Google initially introduced Call Screening on the Pixel 3, but until now, this particular feature was only available on the Google Pixel 4. With the US legislation continuing to crack down on robocalls, it makes sense Google would want to include this updated feature on as many of its devices as possible.

Google has been working diligently to keep its previous generation devices relevant, and it’s showing. This is only the most recent example of Google porting one of its latest Pixel 4 apps or features to its older handsets.

Previously, the new Recorder app and the impressive astrophotography mode made its way to older handsets. Plus, with Google’s recently announced feature drops, Pixel devices should continually get better over time, even as they age.
