Android TV is one of the most popular platforms for watching Disney Plus. The streaming service is supported on a variety of devices, including televisions and streaming boxes that come pre-loaded with Android TV software.

Before you can start streaming Disney Plus on an Android TV or box, you will need to subscribe to the service if you haven’t already done so. A Disney Plus subscription in the US costs $7.99/month with ads and $10.99/month without ads

How to watch Disney Plus on Android TV

To watch Disney Plus on Android TV, you will first need to download the Disney Plus Android app from the Google Play Store on your Android TV or box.

In India and some other countries, Disney Plus and Hotstar are available as a single offering, so you’ll have to download the Disney Plus Hotstar app on your Android TV device.

Disney Plus recommends a high-speed internet connection of at least 5Mbps for HD and 25Mbps for 4K streaming. Remember, your Android TV or box should support 4K playback for you to watch Disney Plus content in 4K. If you use a monitor instead of a TV, you will need one that’s 4K enabled.

Your device will also need to be running Android Lollipop or a later version to be able to run the Disney Plus app.

It’s recommended that the HDMI cables you use to connect your Android TV box to a display should support high-bandwidth digital content.

For 4K and HDR content, external displays should support HDCP 2.2 (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). This is the latest copy protection standard designed to secure content going from a source, such as an Android TV box, to a display. It ensures you can’t take the output from a particular source and hook it up to some kind of digital recorder.

Disney Plus warns that older audio and video components can impact the quality of videos and prevent playback entirely.
