Google officially ditched the charger from the Pixel 6, joining Apple and Samsung in forcing consumers to buy their own accessories to reach top charging speeds. It’s certainly irritating, but perhaps the move is better for the environment in the long run. Whether you’re reusing an old plug, buying proprietary, or shopping for a third-party option, you’ll have to do some research to make sure you pick out the best Google Pixel 6 chargers.

Fortunately, we’ve tested plenty of chargers and researched many more. We have you well covered! Here’s everything you need to make shopping for Pixel chargers easy. Also, if you have the newer Pixels, we have a list of the best Pixel 7 chargers and Pixel 8 chargers.

What you need to know about Google Pixel 6 charging

When picking out the best Google Pixel chargers, consider two key things: what standard the phone requires to fast charge and the amount of power needed.

Google’s Pixel 6 supports the USB Power Delivery PPS standard provided over USB-C. This is a less common part of the extended Power Delivery standard that requires specific chargers to work at full speed. USB PD PPS is also used by the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and is supported by a growing range of first and third-party plugs. However, this also means older Pixel plugs won’t fast charge the Pixel 6 or newer models. You’ll need a new adapter.

Google's Pixel 6 moved to the USB Power Delivery PPS standard.

Our testing reveals that the Pixel 6 supports up to 22W of power, up from 18W with previous models. It’s hardly a significant upgrade, but you’ll want a more powerful charger to charge Google’s handset as quickly as possible. If you’re into wireless charging, the Pixel 6 supports the Qi standard at up to 21W, while the Pixel 6 Pro raises the speed to 23W.

Google’s newer Pixel 7 series follows the same rules, so any of these chargers will also work for the latest models. Things got better with the Pixel 8 series, though. The newest Google smartphones can charge faster; the Pixel 8 supports 27W, while the Pixel 8 Pro can reach 30W.

With all that in mind, let’s take a look at the most suitable chargers for your new Pixel 6 smartphone.

The best Google Pixel 6 fast chargers

Google 30W USB-C Power Charger

Google 30W USB C Power Charger resting on Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

For the very best Google Pixel charger, you can’t go wrong with an official plug. Previously, Google has sold 18W and 45W USB-C power adapters with the USB Power Delivery 3.0 spec. While those are perfect for previous Pixels, you’ll want to spring for the company’s newer Google 30W USB-C Power Charger, which supports PD 3.0 PPS to charge the Pixel 6 at full speed.

That’s the only model the company sells with the required standard for its latest handset. It’s not too expensive either, priced at $25.

With 45W of power, this will have you well covered for tablets and smaller laptops too.

If you prefer saving some cash and don’t need to charge more power-hungry devices, you’ll do fine with the Samsung 25W Super Fast Wall Charger ($14 at Amazon). It costs significantly less and also supports USB PD PPS. And since the Pixel 6 can’t do more than 22W, it’s enough to juice up as quickly as possible.

Wireless chargers for the Google Pixel 6

Pixel Stand (2021)

Google Pixel Stand Box Contents

Google’s Pixel Stand is designed to fast-charge its latest smartphone over the air. Not to be confused with the previous model, there’s now up to 23W of power onboard, making it your best bet to get the most out of the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.

It will also work with Google’s older handsets and other Qi-compatible smartphones. One of the best things about the Pixel Stand is its integrated active cooling fan. This helps maintain faster charging speeds longer, as phones limit charging when they get too hot.

And if it helps, it actually happens to look very nice, minimalistic, and elegant. That said, it’s also a bit pricey at $79.

We usually wouldn’t recommend a Samsung wireless charger to Pixel users. These are capped at 15W, and there are plenty of similar options for much less money. That said, the Samsung SmartThings Station is special.

Aside from having an integrated fan to keep your device cool, this unit works as a SmartThings hub with Matter support. It also has a button you can program to control your smart home products.
