Samsung to supply Apple with 180-200 million OLED displays next year
- Samsung shipped Apple 50 million OLED displays for the iPhone X in 2017.
- That number looks to quadruple to 180-200 million in 2018.

Samsung is known for its outstanding OLED displays. That’s why we generally say “this is the best display on a smartphone” every time we review one of its flagships.
In case you didn’t know, Samsung also supplies Apple with displays for the iPhone X. The OLED panels are the best on the market and Apple wants to continue to dominate in that area. For that reason, Samsung will supply Apple with 180 to 200 million flexible OLED panels in 2018, according to industry sources.
Those numbers are about four times more than the 50 million panels Samsung has already supplied to Apple. Since each panel is is priced at roughly $110, we can infer that Samsung will make anywhere between $19.8 and $22 billion in revenue, just for supplying Apple with displays.
While this is good news for Samsung in the immediate, it might not last. We brought you news a few months ago that Apple and LG were teaming up on a device with a flexible OLED display slated for 2020. Even if Samsung loses out to LG for the display, it will still make money from Apple selling the iPhone as it supplies a number of components for the phone.
