Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx owners will be thrilled to hear that the waiting may be over and that the update they were waiting for, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is on the way. Motorola confirmed a few weeks ago that the two handsets will get ICS in the following six weeks, but the company failed to specify a precise roll out date.
Today’s news comes from Phandroid, which has “received word from a reader that Verizon is sending text messages to Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx customers to let them know that Android 4.0 is on its way.”
The online publication points out that during the ICS update, the My Verizon app will be uninstalled, as users will have to get the ICS-compatible Verizon app that’s already available in Google Play.
Unfortunately, the text messages did not reveal any more details about the incoming ICS update, so we’ll just have to wait for Verizon to issue more details about the pending Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx upgrades.
In case you have rooted your RAZR model, you should stay away from the update for the time being. But if you do get similar messages from Verizon that point to an imminent ICS arrival, let us know by using the comment section below!
