Motorola’s Atrix HD, Photon Q 4G LTE, Razr M, and Razr i and Razr HD get root access

by: Bams SadewoNovember 9, 2012
Much has been said about Motorola’s insistence on locking down its phones. While it was only recently that Moto began providing an official way to unlock the bootloader on some phone models, one member of XDA-Developers has concocted a special formula that allows Moto owners to gain root access without unlocking the phone's bootloader.

Motorola Photon Q might be released on August 19

by: Bams SadewoAugust 8, 2012

Folks, we may have hit a breakthrough on the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE’s release date. Thanks to Phone Dog’s trusted source, you can now circle August 19 on your non-digital calendar as the launch date of the Photon Q on Sprint. While it’s not official yet and Sprint has yet to confirm, it’s better than the “coming very soon” information that we’ve been hearing about for the past weeks.

As far as the specs go, the Photon Q should sport a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 4.3-inch ColorBoost HD display, 8MP rear camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Photon Q is also a quad-band phone, which means you can take the phone on [...]

Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE to arrive on Sprint soon

by: LucianJuly 27, 2012

We haven’t seen many phones with QWERTY keyboards lately, and I know a lot of people still want them, provided they offer some decent specs and the latest version of Android. Motorola is trying to aim for that here with the Photon Q, a LTE phone with a QWERTY keyboard and Android 4.0, which is not exactly the latest version of Android, but close enough.

The phone comes with a dual core 1.5 Ghz processor (most likely the S4), an 8MP camera, NFC, a 4.3″ “Color Boost” display, which I assume has an HD resolution, although at this 4.3″ size it’s possible Motorola went with qHD. The Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE is supposed to be a [...]

Motorola talks unlocking bootloaders; starts with Motorola Photon Q

by: Derek RossJuly 26, 2012

Motorola Mobility is notorious for locking the bootloaders on a large majority of their devices.  We’ve seen them release device after devices with locked bootloaders and even promises of said bootloaders being unlocked in the future without following through. In fact, the development and modding sectors of the Android community have even sought changes to Motorola’s bootloader policies via online petitions. Sadly, the outcries of the community did nothing back then. However, times they are a changin’.

Today, Motorola Mobility announced that their latest device, the PHOTON Q 4G LTE will have an unlockable bootloader. Motorola stated that for quite [...]

Official: Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE is real, to be released “very soon”

by: AdrianJuly 26, 2012

Diversity is the hallmark of the Android ecosystem, but there is still one equation that no manufacturer has tried to solve just yet. What do you get when you combine the latest version of Android, snappy hardware, LTE speeds, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard?

We’d say you have a good chance to create a winning gadget, which is why the increasing hype surrounding the upcoming Motorola Photon Q LTE makes us very happy. The first rumors about the Sprint-bound phone popped up on the web several months ago, and now finally we have been given confirmation that the handset is real and nearing a release.

The confirmation comes straight from Sprint’s CEO Dan Hesse, who [...]
