TL;DR
  • A pair of rumored Walmart Android TV streamers are definitively coming next week.
  • After the streamers leaked on Walmart’s own site, the company confirmed they will land on June 7.
  • At under $30, the two streamers will become the cheapest entry points into the Android TV world.

At the end of May, an eagle-eyed Twitter account focused on Android TV rumors spotted some new listings on Walmart’s site. The listings were for the rumored ultra-cheap Android TV streamers we’ve discussed a few times now.

Today, TechCrunch received official confirmation from a Walmart rep that the listings were legit — they just launched earlier than planned. The same rep confirmed that both Walmart Android TV streamers will land in stores and online on June 7, 2021.

Most of the rumors we’ve heard so far were proven correct by these listings. The integral info is that there are two streamers: one locked to 1080p and another that supports 4K. Each comes with a Google-designed remote control (the G10), support for Google Assistant, and dedicated buttons for YouTube, Netflix, Disney Plus, and HBO Max. The in-box contents will include an HDMI Extender, an A/C adapter, batteries for the remote, and a USB to Micro-USB cable.

The most important aspect of the devices, though, is their prices. The 1080p model will only cost $24.88 while the 4K model is only nominally more expensive at $29.88. This makes the two devices the cheapest ways to enjoy Android TV right now. It also makes them very competitive against other streamers at this price point from Roku and Amazon.
