The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e comes with Android 9 Pie and costs $400
Today, Samsung announced a new tablet: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e. The Android tablet will hit the Samsung online store and various major retailers sometime in the second quarter of this year for a relatively cheap price of $400.
Back in August, Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, it’s most high-end offering in the tablet market. That device was sold as a sort of laptop replacement, with an optional Bluetooth keyboard cover and a heavy emphasis on playing games, particularly Fortnite. However, the price of the tablet alone is $650, and the keyboard sleeve adds another $150 to that. Ouch.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e appears to take the ultra-slim design aesthetic of the Tab S4 but cut some corners to keep the price down. The lowercase “e” in the name of the tablet is the same that will appear on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10e, which is the cheaper, entry-level model. Therefore, we can expect Samsung to eventually release a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5 that will be a true follow up to last year’s Tab S4.
However, for $400 this tablet seems to be pretty capable on its own. It even supports a keyboard sleeve for anyone who needs one.
What do you get with your $400 Galaxy Tab S5e? You get a 10.5” WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) sAMOLED display housed in a 245 x 160 x 5.5mm chassis. For reference, that’s the slimmest and lightest tablet Samsung has ever made.
Inside you’ll find either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, a microSD slot (expandable up to 512GB), and a 7,040mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.
