Samsung’s 2022 flagships are here. Three brand new devices — the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra — represent the best that Samsung has to offer in terms of hardware and software. Not only do they get a top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (or Exynos 2200) processor, they also promise four major Android updates as well as five years worth of security patches.

Individually, each of the Galaxy S22 series phones has unique qualities to attract Android fans. The vanilla Galaxy S22 keeps the entry-level price for the premium lineup the same as its predecessor. The S22 Plus hits the sweet spot in terms of display size and battery capacity, even offering the same 45W charging as the Ultra variant. Speaking of, the S22 Ultra is Samsung’s first S-class phone to accommodate an S Pen in its body. Its shape and size also make it more of a Galaxy Note than a typical S-series flagship. Not to forget the camera setup that catapults it to the top of the food chain in the new lineup.

On the flip side, a few things might not please prospective buyers. For instance, the base Galaxy S22 variant’s battery is smaller than what the Galaxy S21 offered. Charging on the S22 Plus and S22 Ultra still tops out at 45W in a day and age when flagships like the OnePlus 10 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro can reach wired charging speeds of 80W and 120W, respectively.
