From a pure power perspective, the Galaxy M10 and M20 are nothing to write home about for their respective price brackets. The Galaxy M10 touts the 2016-era Exynos 7870 chipset (eight Cortex-A53 cores, 14nm) and between 2GB and 3GB of RAM, so it’s expected to struggle with advanced games and demanding applications. Still, this level of power should be fine in theory for everyday usage (i.e. 2D games, communication, web browsing, video playback).

Meanwhile, the Galaxy M20 offers Samsung’s latest chipset, the Exynos 7904. It’s not the weakest processor around, owing to those two heavyweight Cortex-A73 cores, but there’s only two of them compared to four high-powered cores in rival chipsets from MediaTek and Qualcomm. In any case, the two big cores plus 3GB to 4GB of RAM means you should be able to play some demanding games and apps, while also delivering smoother performance compared to the M10.

The phones also differ in the display, battery, selfie camera, and storage areas. The M10 offers a 6.22-inch 720p LCD screen with a waterdrop notch, a 3,400mAh battery, 5MP camera, and 16GB or 32GB of expandable storage. Meanwhile, the Galaxy M20 ups the ante in a massive way, delivering a 6.3-inch Full HD LCD screen with a waterdrop notch, a humongous 5,000mAh battery, 8MP front-facing shooter, and 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage.

The Galaxy M10 lacks several more features seen on the M20, such as a fingerprint scanner, fast charging, and USB-C connectivity. So if even one of these features is a priority, then you’ll want to plump for the M20. Toss in a variety of missing sensors (compass, gyroscope, magnetometer) and there’s no questioning Samsung cut plenty of corners compared to the M20.

Otherwise, they both pack waterdrop notches, a 13MP+5MP ultra wide rear camera pairing, a headphone jack, and Samsung Experience 9.5 atop Android 8.1.
