Leak suggests Samsung could kill the audio jack on yet another phone

You might want to hang on to the Galaxy A32 if wired audio is important to you.

TL;DR
  • Samsung Galaxy A33 renders have purportedly leaked.
  • The shots showcase a quad-camera phone with a notched display.
  • Judging by the renders, the Galaxy A33 will be another mid-range Samsung phone without a 3.5mm headphone jack.

An upcoming Samsung smartphone has now broken cover, but it’s not the Galaxy S22 or Galaxy S21 FE. Instead, new renders of the company’s affordable Galaxy A33 have emerged showcasing its design and one potentially disappointing omission.

Published by 91Mobiles and tipster OnLeaks, the Samsung Galaxy A33 will apparently sport a quad rear camera, a notched 6.4-inch AMOLED display, and a USB-C connector on its foot. However, something that you won’t see in any of the renders is the headphone jack. Following the Galaxy A53 renders earlier this month, it seems Samsung is now cutting the legacy audio port from its affordable lines, too. Taking the headphone jack’s usual place on the bottom of the phone is a SIM card slot.

As for other details, 91Mobiles says the phone will measure 9.7mm at its thickest point, with a length of 159.7mm and a 74mm width. Colorways could include Black, Light Blue, Orange, and White.

The leak doesn’t include any hard specs, so we’ll have to wait to discover what Samsung’s hiding beneath the phone’s skin and camera lenses. That wait might not be too long, though. The phone is tipped to launch in January 2022, which could kick off a busy device launch period for Samsung.

Should Samsung remove the headphone jack from its cheaper phones?
