A Samsung phone with a 6,000mAh battery is in the works

We've seen quite a few phones with 5,000mAh batteries, but 6,000mAh? That's insane.

A leaked photo (via Galaxy Club) confirms that Samsung is working on a 6,000mAh smartphone battery. Evidence suggests the battery could power the Samsung Galaxy M20S, although that’s speculation at this point.

The battery itself, though, appears to be very real. You can see the image below for yourself.

Samsung 6,000mAh battery, probably for the Samsung Galaxy M20S smartphone.

It’s very, very difficult to see but the product code of the battery is EB-BM207ABY. The “M207” part of the code likely refers to the SM-M207, which would likely be the Galaxy M20S. That’s quite a bit of extrapolation, but it all seems to line up.

Either way, just the existence of a 6,000mAh battery is enough to get excited about. We’ve seen quite a few recent devices with 5,000mAh batteries (such as the nubia REDMAGIC 3 and the ASUS Zenfone 6), but a 6,000mAh battery is something else.

What’s more is that the Samsung battery above doesn’t appear to be much bigger than the average smartphone battery, although it does look pretty thick. It’s probably a good bet that the smartphone this battery ends up powering won’t be the thinnest phone around.

If the battery does power the Galaxy M20S, we don’t know much else about that particular smartphone, other than it will be a part of Samsung’s Millennial-focused “M” line. That means it will likely be inexpensive and sold exclusively online.
