OPPO confirmed last week that it was launching the OPPO Reno 2 series later this month, including a 20X zoom variant. Now, with a week to go until the launch event, the firm has decided to detail the standard OPPO Reno 2 specs.

The standard OPPO Reno 2 will be the first device to pack a Snapdragon 730G chipset, positioned as a gaming-focused chipset. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G is essentially a slightly faster version of the standard Snapdragon 730, offering 15 percent better GPU performance due to a clock speed boost.

Qualcomm’s chipset also offers anti-cheat extensions, a “Jank Reducer” to reduce in-game stutter, a Wi-Fi latency manager, and HDR gaming support. OPPO is also tossing in its Frame and Touch Boost technology.

Look elsewhere on the spec sheet and you’ll find similarly impressive features, such as 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage (it’s unclear whether this is fixed or expandable), and a 4,000mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 charging.

The OPPO Reno 2 will also offer a 6.55-inch OLED screen with a 93.1 percent screen/body ratio, suggesting that the SharkFin selfie pop-up camera is present on the standard model too (much like the original Reno). You’ve also got third-generation in-display fingerprint tech here — hopefully it’s faster and more accurate than previous in-display fingerprint options.

OPPO hasn’t revealed any other Reno 2 specs, such as camera details, but a TENAA filing seems to show a Reno device along with images (seen in the featured image). The filing reveals a 48MP+13MP+8MP+2MP rear camera combo, a 16MP selfie camera, 2x zoom capabilities, a 2,400 x 1,080 display resolution, and a 3.5mm port.

We don’t know pricing just yet, so we’ll likely have to wait until August 28 for more OPPO Reno 2 series details. Nevertheless, it already looks like a decent upgrade over the original OPPO Reno, which served up a Snapdragon 710 processor and a 3,765mAh battery. What would you like to see from OPPO?
