It's official. OnePlus Ace incoming on April 21 as the first phone in a new line
- OnePlus will launch the OnePlus Ace in China on April 21.
- The phone closely resembles the realme GT Neo 3.
- It’s rumored to come with 150W charging, the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip, and a 50MP Sony camera.
After days of rumors and leaks, the OnePlus Ace is now official. The company has confirmed that the phone will launch in China on April 21 at 7 PM local time (7 AM ET).
Alongside its release date, OnePlus has also posted an image of the Ace, which matches leaked renders of the OnePlus 10R and a promotional photo Amazon put out accidentally.
The phone has a dual texture design on the back panel. One side has stripes, while the other has a smooth finish. It looks like a plastic back, but we could be wrong. We previously hoped OnePlus would incorporate a sandstone and metallic finish, but perhaps that’s not the case looking at these clearer images shared by the company.
Apart from its unique rear panel, the phone strongly resembles the realme GT Neo 3. OnePlus has also confirmed that it will carry matching specs, including 150W charging and the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip.
Elsewhere, the phone borrows its name from OPPO’s older Ace series devices. OnePlus isn’t shy in acknowledging the fact. The company says it has taken the name for its new series to see if it can make better products than the ones available in the market. According to the brand, the Ace line (Yes, there will be more Ace branded OnePlus phones in the future) will focus on high-end textured designs, reliable quality, and strong performance.
Meanwhile, OnePlus also has an India launch scheduled for April 28. The firm may announce wider availability for the OnePlus Ace at that event. It’s also highly likely that the OnePlus 10R and the OnePlus Ace are the same phones with different names for different markets. However, a credible tipster suggests that the Ace is a beefed-up version of the OnePlus 10R. We’ll just have to wait and see what the company has in store and if it plans on launching the new Ace series outside of China.
