OPPO has confirmed that Color OS 17 will make its global debut on October 13, following its launch in China last month. Meanwhile, OnePlus has already opened the ColorOS 17 Open Beta Program for the OnePlus 15 in India, giving select users an early chance to try the upcoming software.

The Color OS Global account announced the unveiling date on X, teasing “fluid motion,” “refined visuals,” and “a more natural system experience.” OPPO hasn’t shared further details about the global release just yet, but we should learn more about the software and its features on October 13.
Meanwhile, OnePlus isn’t making users wait until the global announcement to get their hands on the new software. The company has opened applications for the Color OS 17 Open Beta on the OnePlus 15, with the application window running from October 9 through October 12.
Remember, this is the update that will allow OnePlus users to voluntarily switch from Oxygen OS to Color OS.
For now, the open beta program is limited to users in India, with no word on a US release. Eligible OnePlus 15 users must be running either version CPH2745_16.0.10.500(EX01) or CPH2745_16.0.10.601(EX01) to apply. They can do so by heading to Settings > About device > Up to date, tapping the three-dot menu, and selecting Beta program.
OnePlus warns that this is an early beta build, so some planned features may be missing or may not work as intended. Users could also encounter instability, app compatibility issues, lag, overheating, or increased battery consumption. The company recommends backing up important data before installing the update, even though the beta installation is not expected to erase existing data.
Those who decide to try the beta can return to the stable Oxygen OS 16 release using OnePlus’ rollback package. However, rolling back will erase all data on the device, so users should back up their phones before doing so.
