HMD Global is promising big things for MWC 2018 and we’ve already encountered a few of its potentially upcoming handsets, including the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 9. Thanks to a leak from a user on Chinese website Baidu (via Phone Arena), we now know an upgraded Nokia 7 could be on the way too.

The Nokia 7 Plus, which appeared in what looks like leaked presentation slides, is said to come with a 6-inch, 18:9 display (likely FHD+, though it wasn’t mentioned), Snapdragon 660 chip, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space.

The cameras are expected to come in the form of a dual-lens 12 MP+13 MP setup on the rear and 16 MP front camera featuring Tetracell technology (for better low-light shots), while the original Nokia 7 had a single 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. Both of the 7 Plus’ camera modules are believed to have been developed by ZEISS, and they should provide for a significant upgrade over the Nokia 7.

The 7 Plus battery size wasn’t speculated upon, but it should be a least 3,000 mAh (which the ostensibly smaller Nokia 7 had), and it looks like it will include a USB Type-C connector. The leaked materials also suggest the 7 Plus will run Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Nokia 7 is only a few months old at this point, but with a better processor, camera tech, and larger display area, the Nokia 7 Plus should be a worthy addition to the Nokia 7 family. It’s just a shame it might be staying in China like the original.
