Nokia 5.1, 3.1, 2.1 land in India: here's what you'll be paying

There are plenty of players in the budget smartphone space in India, with the likes of Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo and Vivo all duking it out. HMD’s Nokia phones are also available in the mix, and we now have three more devices in the market, the company confirmed on Friday.

HMD Global announced the availability of the Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 2.1 in the country. Starting with the Nokia 5.1, you’re getting a budget octa-core chipset (MediaTek MT6755S), 2GB/3GB of RAM, and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage for a starting price of 14,499 rupees (~$210).

The Nokia 5.1 also delivers a 5.5-inch full HD+ screen (18:9), a 2,970mAh battery, a 16MP main camera, and an 8MP selfie shooter.

Moving down a tier, we have the Nokia 3.1, which has a suggested starting price of 11,999 rupees (~$174). For your cash, you’re getting a budget-minded octa-core processor (MT6750), 2GB/3GB of RAM, and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage. Other notable Nokia 3.1 features include a 5.2-inch HD+ display (18:9), a 2,990mAh battery, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera.

Finally, the Nokia 2.1 rounds out the latest crop of Nokia phones coming to India, coming in at a suggested price of 6,999 rupees (~$102). Opt for this device and you’ll be getting a low-end Snapdragon 425 processor (quad-core), 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable storage. The Nokia 2.1 also offers a 5.5-inch 720p display (16:9), a 4,000mAh battery, an 8MP rear shooter, a 5MP selfie snapper, and Android Go.

HMD Global confirmed that the new phones will go on sale in India from August 12. It added that all three phones are “ready” for Android 9.0 Pie. These aren’t the only new Nokia phones we can expect in India soon, as HMD is holding a launch event in the country on August 21. It’s believed that the Nokia 6.1 Plus could be revealed at the event.
