Nokia X6
TL;DR
  • The Nokia X6 will reportedly launch around the world as the Nokia 6.1 Plus.
  • Hong Kong will be the first destination, with launches in other regions likely to follow.
  • The Nokia X6 initially launched in China.

As much as HMD Global tried to convince everyone that the Nokia X6 would remain in China, recent leaks and its own Twitter poll told us otherwise. Now, Mobile Magazine HK reported that the Nokia X6 will be available around the world as the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

An inside source alleged that HMD Global will first launch the Nokia 6.1 Plus in Hong Kong on July 19. Launches in other regions will likely follow, but no specific countries were listed.

The source also noted that the Nokia 6.1 Plus will feature a clean version of Android 8.1 Oreo. This compares to the Nokia X6, which features a custom Android overlay intended for Chinese consumers.

Even though this does not qualify as an official announcement and should be taken with a grain of salt, it would not surprise us if it turned out to be true. HMD Global even teased a global Nokia X6 launch on Twitter back in May, so an announcement might be around the corner.

As a recap, the Nokia X6 is the first Nokia phone to employ a display notch. It features dual rear 16MP and 5MP cameras, a 16MP selfie camera, 19:9 display, octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, and a 3,060mAh battery.

When the Nokia X6 launched in China, it sold for anywhere between $200 and $265. If and when the Nokia 6.1 Plus launches, expect the phone to be in the same pricing ballpark.
