TL;DR
  • The Lenovo Tab Extreme tablet has been announced at CES 2023.
  • The 14.5-inch tablet will come with Android 13 out of the box, with three OS updates promised.
  • It will have a starting price of $1,199 and launch sometime later in 2023.

Want to go big — really big — with your next tablet? Lenovo hopes so. As part of CES 2023, the company revealed the Lenovo Tab Extreme, an upcoming tablet with a huge 14.5-inch display. The 3,000 x 1,876 resolution display will have a refresh rate of 120Hz. It will also support two HDR standards — Dolby Vision and HDR10+ — for streaming TV shows and movies that support those standards.

Inside, the tablet will have the pretty old MediaTek Dimensity 9000 octa-core processor, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. It will include a microSD slot for storage upgrades. There will be two USB-C ports, one of which is used for charging the tablet. It also includes support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 and will have a 12,300mAh battery that Lenovo claims will support video watching for up to 12 hours on one charge. You’ll also find 13MP cameras on the front and the back, and eight JBL 4-channel speakers

One interesting thing Lenovo is pointing out is that the tablet will have Android 13 installed. Many new Android tablets that are released have the older version of the OS out of the box, so it’s good that this product will have the latest version. Furthermore, Lenovo says the tablet will get three OS updates and at least four years of security updates.

Lenovo will release a new kickstand for the Tab Extreme. It connects magnetically with the back of the tablet and allows it to stand in both landscape and portrait positions. Lenovo will also release a new keyboard for the tablet (which may be sold separately in some territories). The tablet can be mounted on the keyboard’s hinge, and then titled to the user’s preferred viewing position.

The Lenovo Tab Extreme will have a very high starting price of $1,199. At press time, the company did not specify a release date, except that it will come out sometime in 2023. Hopefully, we will see this huge tablet and its unique stand and keyboard add-on very soon.
