TL;DR
  • A rumor has revealed new details about the next Galaxy Z Flip phone.
  • The rumor claims that the Flip 5 could have a larger external display.
  • The rumor also suggests that the phone could have a new hinge that would make the foldable display crease less noticeable.

It’s never too early for new phone rumors to surface. Case in point, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 was released only a few months ago, but we may already have details about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 thanks to a tipster.

According to Ross Young — a tipster that has a bit of a spotty record when it comes to leaks — the next year’s Galaxy Z Flip may have two major design changes. If true, these changes would greatly improve some of the phone’s biggest design flaws.

The first part of the rumor suggests that the cover screen could be bigger in the next iteration. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 1.9-inch cover display and works decently as a second screen. But based on Young’s information, Samsung may increase the screen real estate to 3-inches on the Flip 5.

The second part of the rumor focuses on the device’s hinge. Whether you’ve learned to live with it or not, the crease in the middle of Samsung’s foldables are an eyesore. This rumor claims that the company has reworked the hinge so that the crease is less visible. This would be a much-welcomed adjustment if Samsung has actually found a way to make this happen.

Once again, we reiterate this is a mere rumor. As with any rumor, be sure to take it with a grain of salt. In addition to this rumor, it’s expected that the Flip 5 will likely run on a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2.
