Miss S Pen on Galaxy Z Fold 8 series? Last-minute leak says foldable iPhone will have it

Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone later today (September 9), and we’ve got a rough idea of what to expect. However, a trusted source has now revealed several key details.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has revealed that the foldable iPhone might actually be called the iPhone Duo. Furthermore, the device will apparently have a starting price of $2,000 for the 256GB model. Gurman says the base model’s price tag is due to Apple absorbing rising memory costs for this variant.

Want more storage? Then the iPhone Duo will apparently be available in a 2TB model that costs roughly $3,000. Otherwise, the foldable is said to ship in October in Dark Blue and White color options.

The iPhone Ultra could have stylus support

Perhaps the most surprising claim is that the iPhone Duo will support the Apple Pencil. This comes after we first heard reports that Apple had tested stylus input on its foldable phone but possibly decided against it.

Apple Pencil support would also be a major advantage against recent Galaxy Z Fold devices. Samsung’s older foldables had S Pen support, but the company ditched this feature on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series to make them slimmer. We’re therefore keen to see whether the iPhone Duo is thinner than Samsung’s recent foldables if it does have Pencil support. Nevertheless, foldables like the Motorola Razr Fold, HONOR Magic V6, and OPPO Find N6 offer stylus support and slim designs.

Otherwise, Gurman claims that the iPhone Duo will indeed have a short and wide design like the Z Fold 8, an Apple A20 Pro chip with a C2 modem, dual 48MP rear cameras, and a 12MP selfie camera. We’re guessing Apple will ape Android foldables and offer a camera on each screen.
