The Transformer Prime was launched about 6 weeks ago, and a couple of weeks after that we already found out about the Transformer Prime TF700, which is pretty much the same but with a 1920×1200 display instead, and $100 more expensive. And now we also get this leak about another Transformer Prime device, called TF300. So what’s going on here? Is this another slightly upgraded Transformer, or a next-gen one? And what is Asus thinking anyway? First of all, I do think Asus is starting to use the same strategy that plagues many phone manufacturers today by releasing a new …
Ever since the ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 was released, it has gotten its fair share of both criticism and praise from the public. While it has been called as the ‘fastest, smoothest Android tablet to date,’ many have issues with it particularly its WiFi and GPS. This is why when ASUS announced that they had upgraded the Transformer Prime TF700, TF201 owners complained about it. The good news is, ASUS has heard these complaints and has released an issue on what they plan to do about the issues on the TF201. The bad news is, however, the planned update will …
Last week at CES, ASUS announced that the ICS upgrade for the Transformer Prime was live, some units were having trouble pulling the update from ASUS’s servers. It seems now some devices are having trouble with reboots after the update. Similar to the Galaxy Nexus problem we reported yesterday, the Transformer Prime seems to be randomly rebooting itself. Looks like there’s a mixed bag of users who are experiencing this problem making it difficult to actually pinpoint the problem, so ASUS can fix the problem. Some users have reported being able to successfully exchange the unit with ASUS or their …
When news came out that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime could be rooted, users were delighted. However, the process involved a few technical things. Some users didn’t like the manual commands and strings that they had to go through. Thanks to XDA-Developers forum member –viperboy-, however, rooting the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is easier than ever–and all in just one click. Based on the NachoRoot tool, developed by jcase and TeamAndIRC, the viperMOD Primer allows users to root and unroot their Transformer Prime devices with just one click. It’s only available for Windows at the moment, but according …
This past week at CES, our very own Darcy LaCouvee was invited to ASUS’s suite to check out some of their new products including the Padfone, Transformer 700, and the ASUS Memo tablets. For now we are just going to check out the ASUS Padfone. The Padfone features a 5MP camera, and running on Android 3.0 – Honeycomb. The tablet part of the duo features a 10.1 inch display and the phone part features a 4.3 inch screen. The ASUS Padfone is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2012, but we will see when ASUS finally releases …
Last but not least we got a chance to play around with ASUS’s pair of Memo tabs, the 171 and 370T at CES this week. For those of us that can’t just throw money at every device that hits the market, the Memo 370T is probably our favorite at this point. It’s a 7-inch, Tegra 3 – Quad-Core tablet with Ice Cream Sandwich that will cost $249, great price right? It’s really thin and perfect size for reading books, playing games and carrying just about anywhere. In contrast the Memo 171 is running on a dual-core snapdragon processor with a …
We were able to get some time with the newer version of the Transformer Prime 700, which features the higher pixel resolution 1920×1200, and better GPS then the original Transformer Prime. Running on a Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor, it’s one arguably one of the best tablets ever made, and is certainly an awesome device. We also got the chance to play with the keyboard dock, which turns the Transformer Prime into a netbook on steroids, ala touch screen goodness. Check out the hands-on Video and pictures we have below and let us know what you think about it. Personally, I …
Asus’ Eee Pad MeMO ME370T is now live in the flesh and sporting Android 4.0. A personal hands on of the device showed it to be thin enough, but not ultra slim as some of its counterparts. Its 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 1280×800 resolution showed it could hold its own against current tablets of its size.
NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang spoke of great things to come for the company at CES 2012 while cross-referencing to a Toyota Corolla as the best-selling vehicle of all time. He shared that just because it is a highly in demand car, not everyone wants or needs one. Huang referenced this with Android tablets because there are now a multitude of sizes, shapes, and specs available. After just four years, Android is close to dominating the world of smartphones and tablets. The Ice Cream Sandwich Apart from talking about Android per se, NVIDIA also discussed upcoming products, trends and technologies. One …
That’s right Transformer Prime owners, download your taste of Ice Cream Sandwich now. This was announced last night during NVIDIA’s press conference at CES, but it was not a full roll out yet. As of now it is fully rolling out to everyone. As if I need to tell you, but I will anyways, head over to the software update menu on your Transformer Prime and start that ICS download. Instead of waiting two more days for the announced release date of ICS, ASUS decided to do it a bit earlier, anyone upset with that? I didn’t think so. After yesterday’s …
Today ASUS introduced the Transformer Prime TF700T, which is a slightly upgraded version of the Transformer Prime we have seen so much of lately. It includes 1920 x 1200 resolution to compete with some of the tablets we’ve already seen in the past 24 hours at CES. Also adds a new design to help improve GPS. The Prime TF700T’s display is still made of SuperIPS+ which is really awesome. Even more good news, Android 4.0.1 – Ice Cream Sandwich will be shipping on the Prime TF700T. It should cost around $599 and $699 when it finally hits shelves in the …
ASUS will be making an official launch of a 7-inch version of their successful Eee Pad Transformer Prime. This bit of information was released by NotebookItalia, who was also able to obtain a leaked rendering of the device. It seemed to be running on Android Honeycomb. Some sources speculate that this might be the OS of the device, considering that there is no other ASUS device that has been launched with the latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich. Just like its earlier version, the 7-inch Mini Transformer Prime will also be sporting the mighty Tegra 3 processor. But looking back …
Believe it or not but the first conference of 2012 is less than a week away. The 2012 International CES in Las Vegas will start up on January 10th, and of course Android Authority will be there to get the inside scoop on everything Android, be sure to say hello to us. So what are we expecting at CES, other then the obvious new Android phones and Tablets? New Android Phones With the announcement of Ice Cream Sandwich being almost 3 months ago, I would expect quite a few ICS based phones from all the major Android phone manufacturers like …
Well folks, ASUS confirmed it this morning on their Facebook account. Along with answering questions about the locked bootloader I told you about earlier this week, ASUS also said it will be rolling out the Android 4.0 update on January 12th. Check out the full update from ASUS: Thank you very much for all of the support you have given to ASUS. Eee Pad Transformer Prime received excellent reviews and great demand when it launched in December 2011. Now, we are continuing to make the Transformer Prime available in the worldwide market, and doing our best to fulfill the incredible …
It seems the Asus Transformer Prime was delayed by at least a month compared to the initial reports that it will be launched on December 9th, then pushed to 19th, and now, at least in UK it was announced that it’s going to be launched on January 12th. This is quite a delay, and we don’t really know what’s been causing this. When I first heard the Asus CEO that Android 4.0 could launch even by the end of 2011 on Asus Transformer Prime, I immediately thought it would’ve been a better idea to wait until it actually gets Android …
