2048 best Android Wear games2048 for Android Wear

[Price: Free with in-app purchases]
Most people know about the 2048 game. The idea is to combine squares with the same number to make larger numbers. So you would combine a two square with a two square to make four, then find another four square and combine that to make eight, so on and so forth. It’s a simple little puzzle game but rounds go by quickly and it’s a good way to kill a few minutes while waiting in line. It says there are in-app purchases as per Google Play, but currently the app doesn’t actually have any.

There is a local multiplayer mode where you can pass the watch back and forth and play with another person along with an AI opponent that can be set to easy, medium, or hard. It’s $1.33 and has no in-app purchases.

Ingress best android wear gamesIngress

[Price: Free]
Even though the Google Play page doesn’t necessarily say so, there is, in fact, support for Android Wear on Ingress. For those who have never played, Ingress is a live multiplayer game where you must travel (literally) to various destinations around your city to hack and maintain portals. There is an opposing team that will try to do the same to you. It’s arguably the best multiplayer game that fits within this genre and it’s entirely free to play.

minecart best Android Wear gamesMinecart Jumper

[Price: Free with in-app purchases]
Minecart Jumper is exactly what you think it would be. It’s a side-scrolling infinite runner where you’re in a mine cart and you must jump to avoid various obstacles in your path. You jump between the top and bottom tracks and obstacles that can get in your way include gravestones and skeletons. It’s admittedly simple, but the mechanics are solid and the game works well. It is slightly newer and less popular than others which means there may be bugs that haven’t yet been reported or fixed depending on your watch model and which version of Android Wear it is running.

papercraft best Android Wear gamesPaperCraft

[Price: Free]
PaperCraft is kind of like the classic game Asteroids but with a few tweaks added to the game mechanics. You are a little paper triangle and your job is to shoot down an infinite number of paper bad guys that keep spawning. It’s a fun, modern take on a classic premise and the controls work surprisingly well on a watch. Along with the game, you’ll get Google Play Games leaderboards so you can keep track of your best scores.

Repulsion best android wear gamesRepulsion

[Price: Free with in-app purchases]
Repulsion is an infinite runner where you must play as an object that is positive or negative and then keep it away from the opposite sign. That means if you’re a positive object, you must keep away from negative objects. The graphics and game play mechanics should be easy to pick up for just about everybody and it played rather well, even on the oldest of Android Wear devices. There are in-app purchases but they are totally avoidable if you don’t want to spend money.

tilt best Android Wear gamesTilt

[Price: Free]
Tilt is a very interesting title that may be more awesome in theory than in practice, but it’s still fun to try it out in practice. Tilt is an augmented reality game where you must point your phone’s camera at your smartwatch and then use augmented reality to play the game. Here’s how it works. On your phone, the game will open your camera which you point at your watch. Your watch will grow a platform (on camera, of course) and you must keep the ball on the platform without falling off. It’s going to waste a ton of battery life on both devices, but this is, by far, the coolest premise for an Android Wear game right now.
