YouTube has announced that it will once again livestream Coachella. This year, the platform has made a few improvements to the overall experience. This starts with more simultaneous livestreams, upping the total number to seven stages. The Quasar stage, in particular, is getting some special treatment, as it will be streamed in both horizontal and vertical formats. According to YouTube, the vertical stream will be shot on a Pixel device.
In addition to more livestreams, you’ll be able to watch the festival in 4K resolution. For the first time, the Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, and Sahara will all be livestreamed in 4K. YouTube is also bringing back Multiview, so you’ll be able to watch all three of these stages at the same time, plus an additional fourth stage.
Which features would you like to see in YouTube Premium?
Last but not least, Stations are being added to the Coachella experience. This means you’ll have access to “Coachella TV,” which is an uninterrupted 24/7 stream featuring old performances and highlights for this year’s festival. YouTube says this channel “will be updated with performance highlights following each weekend.”
As in years prior, you’ll be able to watch the event with creators like Valkyrae or Daniel Wall. There will also be a virtual merchandise store, allowing you to purchase limited-edition items through YouTube Shopping.
