Between certification listings and Xiaomi’s own confirmation, we already know that the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G is coming later this year. The company also tends to launch its Mi Mix phone in the second half of the year.

It looks like we can expect a bumper September for Xiaomi then, as the firm has announced a September 24 event on Weibo. According to the machine-translated text (seen below), the event will focus on the Mi 9 Pro 5G and what appears to be a Xiaomi Mi Mix 5G concept phone.

We already know some Mi 9 Pro 5G specs courtesy of TENAA and Xiaomi itself. The firm previously confirmed that it’ll pack 30W wireless charging, saying the tech can charge a 4,000mAh battery in 65 minutes.

Meanwhile, a TENAA listing for a phone that looks like a 5G-enabled Mi 9 confirms a 4,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, and a 48MP triple rear camera setup.

We don’t know much about the supposed Mi Mix concept device though, although it’s possible this might be the basis for the Mi Mix 4. Xiaomi has previously confirmed that it’s testing 40W charging, while also adding that a phone with a 108MP sensor is “coming soon.” We wouldn’t be surprised if the Mi Mix device has one or both of these features.

It’s also worth noting that Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2S was its first phone with wireless charging, while the Mi Mix 3 upped the ante to deliver 10W charging. So going by this trend, wireless charging of some kind will be a feature either way.

The Mi Mix model and Mi 9 Pro 5G won’t be the only things to expect at the event, as Xiaomi’s Weibo post also noted the appearance of MIUI 11 and a new Mi TV.
