  • Visible is launching a new program called Visible Impacts.
  • Connection Protection will be a part of the Visible Impacts program.
  • Connection Protection promises to cover up to three months of phone bills for those who are laid off.

In a time when various sectors are seeing layoffs left and right, Visible has just announced a new program that could help those who have lost their jobs.

Today, Visible — a Verizon-owned all-digital wireless carrier — announced a new social initiative called Visible Impacts. To kick off the platform, the company is debuting a new program called Connection Protection. This program — created in partnership with the nonprofit organization Empower Work — will offer to pay for three months of service to customers who have been laid off.

According to Visible, customers who participate in the program will have their service costs covered by Visible. Participants will also be given access to coaching and resources to help them get back on their feet.

Access to this benefit isn’t automatically given to anyone who’s been laid off, however. In order to gain access to this benefit, you first have to be a customer of Visible. If you are a customer, Visible says it will direct you to apply by filling out a short questionnaire that Empower Work will review to determine if you’re eligible.

Those who are approved by Empower Work will receive an activation code that they can use to activate Connection Protection. In addition to having three months of service covered, participants can also use the job support resources and existing programming that Empower Work offers.

“Partnering with Visible helps us deepen our holistic approach to supporting workers so they have peer support from our trained volunteers to talk about their job loss and job search along with plan coverage to keep them connected,” said Jaime-Alexis Fowler, founder and executive director of Empower Work.

While Verizon is one of the most expensive carriers around, its subsidiary manages to cut those prices down with only taking away a few perks. If you want to see how the pricing compares, you can check out our Visible vs Verizon page.
