Update, April 23, 2019 (5:50 pm ET): Shortly after the renders of the Galaxy View 2 showed up online, AT&T shared a promotional video of the ginormous tablet on its YouTube channel. Although pricing and availability information is not shared in the advertisement, we did get confirmation on a couple of key specs.

After confirming that the tablet will work on its 4G network, AT&T states that the Galaxy View 2 has a 17.3-inch FHD display. Additionally, the oversized “portable” entertainment device has a 12,000mAh battery and includes 64GB of built-in storage with the option to add up to 400GB via a microSD card.

We also learn that the Galaxy View will have access to DirecTV Now within the Samsung TV Mode app, features quad speakers with Dolby Atmos Sound, and has support for AT&T NumberSync. This allows customers to make and receive voice and video calls from the tablet.

Check out the video for yourself to see how comical it looks when people carry around a tablet with such a large display.

Original post, April 23, 2019 (12:14 pm ET): According to a set of newly-leaked renders, via SamMobile, the alleged Samsung Galaxy View 2 is real, huge, and headed to AT&T sometime in the near future.

The Samsung Galaxy View, launched in 2015, is a giant tablet with a ludicrous 18.4-inch display. Since the tablet is about as big as a common fast food tray, it only appealed to a very specific audience.

It appears Samsung is ready to give it another try with the Samsung Galaxy View 2. The new model will supposedly be a little slimmer with a 17.3-inch display. It also will have a built-in kickstand in the form of a hinged back with a different design from the original View. Check it out in the images below:

As you can see from the renders, the back of the tablet prohibits it from laying flat on a desk, which could be seen as a benefit. Since it’s so massive, you probably would very rarely want it to lay flat as you’d primarily use a device of this size for media consumption, typing, or graphic design.

The large hole on the back is likely to help you pick up the device. Even in a “closed” state, the large hole will be easily gripped for transportation.

You can’t see it in the renders above, but the back of the device appears to have the AT&T logo. This makes sense as the original Galaxy View was an AT&T exclusive, and it appears this one will follow suit. There will likely also be a Wi-Fi model in addition to the 4G LTE connected option.

Not much is known about the Samsung Galaxy View 2 as far as specs are concerned, but it’s a pretty good bet it will come with Android 9 Pie, judging from the lock screen depicted in the renders. We also don’t know anything about pricing, but the original Galaxy View launched for $600 — it’s actually still available for $570 at Amazon, if you’re interested.
