Samsung readying sequel to its bonkers $600, 18-inch tablet nobody bought
- The Samsung Galaxy View 2 has passed through the Bluetooth SIG, indicating it’s gearing up for release.
- The original Galaxy View included an 18.4-inch screen and went on sale for $599.
- Little is known about the new tablet, though it’s expected to have a similarly large display.
The listing tells us little about what the product will offer besides Bluetooth, but its appearance there does suggest it’s close to release. The tablet also received Wi-Fi certification towards the end of August.
Rumors suggest the sequel will offer a slightly smaller display at 17.5 inches, though the unit will perhaps be far more compact like recent large-screen smartphones, while maintaining the 1080p resolution. It’s also tipped to include 3GB of RAM and USB Type-C rather than the laptop-style charger the original had.
Launching a new Galaxy View seems like an odd move from Samsung given that the original tablet wasn’t exactly its most popular product, but there is nothing quite like it on the market. Look out for more on the Samsung Galaxy View 2 in the coming weeks and let me know what you think of it in the comments.
