Love it or hate it, it seems Samsung's flagship slate will almost certainly gain the divisive feature.

TL;DR
  • Samsung has published an image of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra on a support page.
  • The render effectively confirms the existence of a notch.

Samsung is steadily building up to the launch of its new flagship tablet series, but it seems that a few at the company might be a little too excited for their own good.

A now-removed official render of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra was published to a support page (h/t 91Mobiles), confirming the tablet’s most significant design alteration.

The render once again highlights a notch on the tablet’s right-hand edge. While we’ve seen the notch on plenty of leaked renders, this is the first time the image comes from an official Samsung source.

This will likely be the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s most divisive feature. We’ve found notches on larger screen devices — most recently the new MacBook Pro series — to be more distracting than useful. Samsung could face similar issues, especially if the notch doesn’t provide additional functionality. However, rumors suggest that two 12MP shooters will occupy this space.

Beyond the notch, the render also depicts the basic protective case sans keyboard. It’s likely that more official accessories, including a keyboard cover, will be on offer, too.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: What else do we know?

Thanks to a spate of leaks, there isn’t much we don’t already know about Samsung’s flagship tablet. It’ll reportedly land with a 14.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a massive 11,200mAh battery, and a dual-camera array with a 13MP primary sensor at the rear.

There’s still no official word of a launch date, but considering the tablet’s impromptu appearance on support pages, its debut shouldn’t be too far away.
