With the Galaxy Tab S5 rumored to debut alongside the Galaxy Note 10, Samsung might also be working on a smaller 8-inch tablet. Referred to as the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019), the tablet popped up in the Bluetooth SIG, Wi-Fi Alliance (PDF download), and Android Enterprise Solutions Directory at different points this week.

According to the listings, the tablet features an 8-inch display with 1,280 x 800 resolution, single rear and front cameras, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Android 9 Pie. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) lacks NFC, a fingerprint sensor, and a rugged build.

We don’t know much else about the tablet, though the Bluetooth SIG listing reveals five models: SM-T295, SM-T295N, SM-T295C, SM-T297, and SM-T290. All but the SM-T290 include support for LTE, which means we could see four Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) variants launch across several carriers.

Finally, the tablet seemingly does away with the home and capacitive buttons.

Given the specifications, don’t expect the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) to command a high price tag. As for availability, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 in August 2018. We wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung waited until August of this year for some sort of formal announcement.
