Original article (02/05/18): Slated to debut right before Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus have leaked in a stunning purple hue.

The images arrive courtesy of famed leaker Evan Blass, who said the phones will be available in Lilac Purple. In this color, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus subjectively look fantastic, though they appear more in-your-face than the Galaxy S8’s and S8 Plus’ Orchid Gray.

More significant are the new phones’ alleged camera systems. While the Galaxy S9 looks to sport just one rear camera, the Galaxy S9 Plus reportedly features two main cameras. Blass did not say how this second camera would be used, though he said it has a standard fixed aperture.

The Galaxy S9’s and S9 Plus’ primary 12 MP cameras are said to feature motion-detected, “super slow-mo” video capture at 480 fps and variable aperture. Also, the fingerprint sensor will reportedly be in a more sensible place and be easier to feel out with your finger.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus reportedly feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset in the U.S. and an 8 MP selfie camera. They also include stereo speakers and headphone jacks.

Features

Whereas the Galaxy S9 allegedly sticks with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable storage, the Galaxy S9 Plus includes 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage. If true, that would be a departure from the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, which mostly feature the same internal and external hardware specifications.

We will learn more on February 25, when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus during its Unpacked event at MWC 2018. Stay tuned to Android Authority for coverage on the event and MWC.
