TL;DR
  • A new leak has shown off renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
  • The renders show off a redesigned rear camera housing, but the phone otherwise looks like the regular Galaxy S21.
  • However, the FE edition looks like it will be a bit larger than the S21.

Samsung fans have been waiting for the company to release a cheaper “Fan Edition” of its Galaxy S21 smartphone lineup. This evening, the first alleged Galaxy S21 FE renders hit the internet, thanks to noted gadget leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known as @OnLeaks.

The renders show a smartphone that looks almost the same as the standard Galaxy S21, with one small exception. The housing for the phone’s three rear camera sensors has been integrated into the phone’s rear panel, unlike the Galaxy S21, where the housing was designed to blend into the phone’s rails.

Otherwise, the Galaxy S21 FE renders show a phone that looks like the S21. However, at 155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9mm, the FE version’s alleged dimensions indicate the phone will be a bit larger than the regular S21, with a 6.4-inch display and a punch hole front-facing camera. Like the Galaxy S20 FE, the S21 FE is expected to have a metal frame but a “glasstic” body to keep the price down.

A reported roadmap of Samsung’s product launches for 2021 leaked in March shows an “FE Unleashed” press event on August 19. Of course, release date plans can change, but we will have to wait a few more months before the Galaxy S21 FE is officially announced if this stays accurate. We will also have to wait to see if Samsung duplicates some of its decisions from the S20 FE for the S21 version, such as various color designs, and most importantly, a low price tag.
