Oops: The Galaxy Note 10 uses aluminum, not stainless steel

As reported by The Verge today, Samsung published a video on YouTube two days ago (seen below) about the Galaxy Note 10’s stainless steel frame. Here’s the problem with that: the frame isn’t made out of stainless steel.

“Stainless steel and glass meld seamlessly to minimize bezel,” said the video’s narrator. According to SamMobile, even Samsung’s website mentions stainless steel for the Galaxy Note 10’s frame. However, Samsung didn’t say a word about the phone’s build materials in any of its press releases or Wednesday’s Unpacked event.

That’s because the Galaxy Note 10’s frame is made from aluminum, said Samsung in a statement sent to The Verge. There’s a possibility Samsung wanted to use stainless steel for its latest flagship smartphone, and instead opted for aluminum.

It’s strange how such a mistake slipped by Samsung not once, but twice. It’s even stranger how the company unlisted the video with the incorrect information and re-uploaded the video with no mention of stainless steel.

Either way, we’re glad the Galaxy Note 10’s frame is made out of aluminum. Stainless steel on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max looks really nice in pictures, but scratches up very easily. Aluminum won’t scratch up as easily, even if the material is not as “luxurious” as stainless steel.
