A few days ago, the specs of the Samsung Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J6 leaked to the internet, revealing the budget nature of the two devices. But now, via SamMobile, we have our first hands-on look at the Galaxy J6 and its Infinity Display.

Infinity Display is the term Samsung uses to refer to phones with high screen-to-bezel ratios. The company first introduced the term with the flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

The Galaxy J6 (and the upcoming Galaxy J4) will be the first truly budget offerings from Samsung that will have the high-end Infinity Display feature.

Check out the images below to see just how much screen the front of the Galaxy J6 has:

Although we don’t yet know for sure the screen resolution of the Galaxy J6, the octa-core Exynos 7870 leads us to believe that it will be 1480 x 720.

The back of the device is less interesting than the front, with it being a black plastic slab with a fingerprint sensor underneath the single-lens camera. According to SamMobile, the back is not removable, so you won’t have quick access to the battery.

The hands-on photos also confirm that the device will run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box (skinned with Samsung Experience 9.0), and feature a micro-USB port and headphone jack.

The other specs leaked for the Galaxy J6 are the likely choice of 2GB, 3GB, or 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage, a 3,000mAh battery, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front.

We still don’t know if this Galaxy J6 will be a part of the new “Made In India” campaign Samsung is running to better compete with Xiaomi. After Xiaomi took the top spot in India, Samsung has been strategizing how to bump Xiaomi back down to second place. Is the Galaxy J6 part of that plan? It’s likely, but we don’t know for sure.
